Ceilidh Kern, a sophomore, and Jaylah Ross, a junior, are two students who participated in the March 14 school walkouts, and are part of a team from more than a dozen of our Student Reporting Labs who are covering the day's events for the NewsHour. They join Judy Woodruff to discuss why they walked out, the passion driving children to participate and what they would say directly to policymakers.

      Introduction First of all, guns have been around for a very long time. The introduction of the Second Amendment opens up the controversial, yet well-anticipated opportunity for US citizens to be able to win guns.  It is one of 10 amendments that form the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791 by the U.S. Congress.  RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS The text of the Second Amendment reads in full: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The framers of the Bill of Rights adopted the wording of the amendment from nearly identical clauses in some of the original 13 state constitutions.
