12 Dead in California bar shooting





  •  What happened: A gunman opened fire at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, late Wednesday night. Eyewitnesses say the man fired at people in a packed bar during college night.
  •  The victims: Twelve people were killed, including a Ventura County sheriff's deputy, a college student and at least a dozen people were injured.
  • The shooter: The gunman, identified as 28-year-old former Marine Ian David Long, was a Marine veteran who often visited the site of the shooting.
  •   What President Trump said: He extended his sympathies on Twitter to the victims and their families, and he praised the "great bravery" shown by law enforcement.
